Butler requested a trade from the Timberwolves a few weeks ago, and reportedly told the team he wants to be traded by Friday. Part of his message to them was that he will continue to compete with them if he's still with the team next week. "But I think that's the problem, everybody is so scared to be honest with one another". Was I brutally honest? Yes. The Timberwolves had canceled Thursday's practice after Wednesday's heated scene. Not only that, he also reportedly played with the third-teamers and beat the Wolves starters in a scrimmage, which probably didn't go over well with his teammates.
This will be must see TV for all, but especially for teams like the Los Angeles Clippers and Miami Heat who still may show interest in Butler.
"I'm not saying that Wahlberg was the adviser for the dramatic short featuring Butler that was played out on Wednesday at Mayo Clinic Square, but it was done well enough to be a Marky Mark Production", Reusse writes.
When asked if Butler participated in practice, forward Anthony Tolliver simply said Butler "was around". All my emotion came out in one time. I said, 'Every time I get switched onto you, you pass it.' I'm a competitor. His impasse with the Timberwolves is now in its fourth week, starting when he told coach Tom Thibodeau before training camp that he wants to be traded.More news: NYT Regrets Assigning Writer Critical Of Kavanaugh To 1985 Bar Fight Story

Alas, it was not to be: In a draft-night deal, the Bulls traded Butler to the Timberwolves in June 2017 in a move that apparently has not been "good for him".
That said, all reports indicated the Miami Heat are still pressing the Timberwolves to make a trade, as the sides reportedly were closing in on a deal over the weekend. That's why they made that draft-night trade with the Bulls past year.
At one point, Butler screamed at Layden: "You (bleeping) need me, Scott". Most of the players knew the invectives were directed at Towns and Wiggins, league sources said.
Butler said he talked to Thibodeau four days after the Wolves' season ended with a first-round playoff loss to Houston and conveyed the message that he wasn't happy in Minnesota.
