The Duchess of Sussex's mother Doria Ragland made a surprise appearance today at the launch of her daughter, Meghan Markle's new cookbook at Kensington Palace, telling guests: "Hi, I'm Meg's mom".

Harry was on hand to support Meghan as she celebrated the launch of the cookbook she helped to produce, called Together: Our Community Cookbook.

Without the help of any notes, Meghan thanked the women of Hubb Community Kitchen for their help in creating the 37-year-old's charity cookbook titled Together: Our Community Cookbook.

Serena added that she "couldn't be more proud" of her friend for her contribution to the moving initiative, which will benefit the women of the Hubb Community Kitchen whose communities were deeply affected by last June's deadly Grenfell Tower fire.

Meghan Markle's mom came flying to her daughter's side for the Duchess of Sussex's first solo project this week, and the timing of her visit couldn't be more ideal.

Meghan arrived at the event, wearing a $1,195 (approximately) £697 petrol blue coat by Canadian brand Smythe, with a black rollneck by Tuxe and a skirt by Misha Nonoo.

Harry looked extremely proud as he and Meghan's mother Doria listened to her addressing the women from the Hubb Community Kitchen at the launch event. "This is a tale of friendship, and a story of togetherness", she writes.

The former Suits star penned the foreword for Together which is in bookshops from Thursday but has been available to order online for a few days.

She said the project had been a "tremendous labour of love". "That there are 12 countries represented in this one small room, is pretty outstanding", she continued.

While Ragland has been given a prominent royal seal of approval, Meghan's father has spoken of his fears that she will not contact him again.

After encouraging her followers to "grab this book" because "it has wonderful recipes from all women, from all backgrounds coming together and just doing something and cooking".
