The starting price for the 13-inch MacBook Pro with Touch Bar is $1799 (R24,000), the same as before. The 13-inch MacBook Pro can accommodate up to 8th-generation, quad-core Core i7 CPUs, Intel Iris Plus 655 graphics, 16GB of RAM, and 2TB of SSD storage. All of the newest MacBook Pros exclusively feature Thunderbolt 3 ports, which some will appreciate but all will scowl at when they're forced to buy multiple dongles to connect legacy accessories.

The new 15-inch models, while still utilizing only four Thunderbolt 3/USB-C ports, offer boosted performance with Intel's hexacore i7 and i9 processors, along with better graphics performance and faster memory. In addition to graphics and computational acceleration, the Blackmagic eGPU is also the ideal docking hub for connecting devices such as keyboards, mice, Thunderbolt monitors, big screen HDMI televisions, high speed storage and more.

As well as refreshing its MacBook Pro line-up, Apple today started to sell the $699 Blackmagic eGPU.

In a research note, reported on by tech news site 9to5 Mac, Ming-Chi Kuo of TF International Securities claimed that the Cupertino, California-based company's upgrades will include face recognition for iPads, bigger smart watches and long-awaited improvements for the Mac mini. The MacBook Pro models come with Touch Bar feature as well, which was introduced back in 2016 when these were launched.

DaVinci Resolve 15 users can expect increased performance for editing with more real-time effects, color corrections with more nodes and spectacular ResolveFX such as film grain, light rays, blurs and more.

An analyst says the new model's disappointing sales could lead to the phone being cancelled - with production stopping as soon as this summer.

Apple also released new leather sleeves for its MacBook lineup. A quick MacBook Pro update last spring suggested the company was recommitting to relatively quick product updates; the grumbling began again when the year anniversary of that update passed with no sign of a 2018 revision. The design of the MacBooks stays the same, which means that Apple still uses the controversial keyboard with its delicate Butterfly mechanism and Touchbar - although Apple does say that they have reduced the noise of the "3rd gen Butterfly" switches.

It's not a huge deal, but I'm also going to miss seeing MacBooks with a MagSafe power adapter, which helped prevent the older 15-inch model from being tugged off of a desk by accident.

Apple has also put the new T2 chip from its iMac Pro into the MacBook Pro, which handles fingerprint scanning, the Touch Bar and other duties.
