"With Halo Infinite we will join Master Chief on his greatest adenture yet to save humanity", said Xbox chief Phil Spencer.

The announcement games fans worldwide have been patiently waiting for finally came at the outset of Microsoft's 2018 E3 conference, as they gave a first glimpse at Halo: Infinite.

A brief teaser was shown, which depicted returning supersoldier Master Chief on what looks like Earth. It was mentioned that the story of Master Chief continues but in what fashion? The game is slated for a release on both Xbox One and Windows 10 PC. The lack of a number in the title and the name-drop of a new engine - dubbed "Slipspace" - also suggest this is no ordinary follow-up.

It was previously leaked that the next Halo game, which would be announced at E3 would be named "Halo: Infinity", which was pretty close to the final result.
