U.S. actress Heather Locklear has been arrested for battery against a police officer and ambulance worker, the Ventura County Sheriff's Office says.

Police were responding to a 911 call for a disturbance, with law enforcement sources telling the news outlet that Locklear was heavily intoxicated when a family member called the police.

Paramedics arrived on the scene and they put Heather on a gurney - but she allegedly responded to their assistance by kicking an emergency medical technician.

Ventura County Sheriff's Capt. Garo Kuredjian says Locklear was released from jail Monday after posting $20,000 bail. According to reports, Locklear's mother called 911, claiming that Locklear was acting erratically and threatening to take her own life. Just a week after she threatened to kill herself and was hospitalized as a result, she was arrested for 'battery upon an officer and emergency personnel'. "Before taking her in, they wanted to get her medically cleared, due to the level of her intoxication and behavior".

Locklear's friends say she's been battling a mental illness and substance abuse for some time, and she was also charged with battery against first responders during last weekend's incident.

She has pleaded not guilty in that case. "She is taking it one day at a time". While the EMT was evaluating the actress, she kicked him as well.

The Ventura County Sheriff's Office told Entertainment Tonight that police were initially called for an unknown disturbance at the actress' home and upon arriving realized it was a domestic disturbance.
