The first trailer for Bumblebee is here!

Paramount Pictures has released the teaser trailer today, and the biggest takeaway is Bumblebee is finally going to be classic Volkswagen Beetle.

While it's unclear exactly what kind of role Starscream could play in the film, the possibility of him being Bumblebee's main villain definitely makes sense.

We're then treated to all the sort of action we've come to used to with the movie franchise, but it definitely has a more upbeat vibe to it than the most recent Tranformers film, 2017's The Last Knight. The film appears to be centred on the relationship between Charlie and Bumblebee. "It's very character and storyline driven, which is a bit different, but it still has the elements that Transformers fans love and will see in the movie..."

Bumblebee rolls out into theaters December 21.

Set twenty years before the events of the first film, in 1987, Bumblebee: The Movie follows the autobot - a sentient mechanical self-configuring robotic lifeform - as he takes refuge in a small California beach town junkyard before meeting Charlie.

The trailer leads with Charlie (Steinfeld) finding a yellow VW Beetle in a junkyard as a familiar quote echoes, reminding us that the driver doesn't pick the vehicle; the auto picks the driver. "Kubo and the Two Strings" helmer Travis Knight is helming the spinoff, which is odd given that "Kubo" was quite good and this is a "Transformers" movie.
