Lando Calrissian is pansexual, says 'Solo' screenwriter

The "Star Wars" movies have thus far been more interested in representing droids and alien life than the LGBTQ community - but in the new film "Solo: A Star Wars Story", that precedent may be changing.

Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy has suggested that Donald Glover may reprise his role in a Lando Calrissian movie.

Per Newton's affinity for futuristic-meets-Western films (she also stars in Westworld), Solo: A Star Wars Story is a western-inspired space heist film following a young Han Solo as he becomes the lovable smuggler we all knew him to be.

In the upcoming Solo, Donald Glover's overly flirty Lando doesn't really limit himself to one gender, or even species for that matter, which has been confirmed by Jonathon Kasdan.

"Solo: A Star Wars Story" hits theaters May 25. "There's a fluidity to Donald (Glover) and Billy Dee's (portrayal of Lando's) sexuality".

The publication later adjusted its article with the note: "Lucasfilm informs us that there would have been a misunderstanding between our journalist and Kathleen Kennedy".

Fired directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller reportedly wanted a "Guardians of the Galaxy" vibe for "Solo: A Star Wars Story" before Ron Howard replaced them.

"I mean, I would have loved to have gotten a more explicitly LGBT character into this movie", Kasdan continued.

However, despite the screenwriter's best intentions, all of Lando's pansexuality is played out in subtext in Solo. But is Lando Calrissian pansexual?

Speaking in an interview with The Huffington Post, Jonathan Kasdan took an opportunity to share his interpretation of Lando's sexuality.

Solo is the first in a potential series of films, with Ehrenreich signing on for three instalments, although it's unclear whether that might include an appearance in a Lando movie. No, I'm not talking about eyebrow-raising fan theories like A Bigger Luke or Jar Jar Binks being a secret Sith lord; rather, I'm talking about the genuinely weird stuff that is a part of the ever-expanding Star Wars canon.

When asked about whether or not Lando was pansexual, Kasdan answered: "I would say yes".
