Kenny Perry birdied four of the final five holes for a 65, the low round of the day, and was one of eight players sitting three shots back.
Jason Day of Australia celebrates following his par putt on the 18th green during the final round to win the 2018 Wells Fargo Championship at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, N.C. He stretched out both arms in mock celebration after his 2-over 73. With his bare feet in the stream and the ball on the bank well above his feet, he hit a full wedge to the back of the green for a two-putt par. "I'm confident about my abilities going into next week, but I got to just enjoy tonight, have fun, but really got to focus on next week after tonight". I'm still hitting it high where I can stop it and there's six less spin. Woods shot 3-under for the day, but he could have doubled that total, what with the greens playing easier and him putting better. It is the only regular PGA Tour event where he has missed the 36-hole cut twice. Lefty made 18 birdies on the week, including a ridiculous seven (!) in the final round.
Day hit a five-foot birdie putt at the par-5 10th, a 14-footer for birdie at 12 and back-to-back two-foot birdie putts at the 14th and par-5 15th.

"Got a tap-in birdie on nine and a good shot down the middle on 10". "If I just putt normal, I'm right there".
"I'd like to be able to hit it a little bit straighter", he said. "So instead of hitting a 5-iron from 205, I'm hitting a 5-iron from 220 now".

Then he stood on the par-3 17th, where Justin Thomas shut down the 2017 PGA, and he almost dunked an ace. He won this tournament in 2007, but missed the cut the last two times he played in 2010 and 2012.
The victory sends Day back to world number seven. Watney will tee it up at the PLAYERS Championship next week.
This is a new course to him.
Tiger's momentum was slowed by a bogey on the par-four ninth, but birdies on Nos. He didn't birdie any of the par 5s after being in greenside bunkers on two of them and leaving himself a 6-foot birdie putt on the other.
"I certainly was frustrated, there's no doubt about that", Woods said.
"It's one of those things where when you reach the top of the world ranking that you want to attain, and on top of that you've won a major championship, you've won all the tournaments you've always dreamt of winning, what's next?" said Woods, who has held the top spot for a record 683 weeks in his career.
