Terrorists attack BJP leader in Srinagar, gunfight underway

Strongly condemning the terror attack on BJP leader Anwar Khan, the party said guns can not silence the voice of those who long for peace and development in Jammu and Kashmir.

A BJP spokesperson said Mohammad Anwar Khan, the general secretary of the BJP's Baramulla distirct, was not injured.

More details are awaited on the attack.

Searches are going on at the encounter site as there were reports of the third militant as well at the time of weapon snatching attempt.

While condemning terrorists' attack on BJP leader Anwar Khan, BJP State Vice President Yudhvir Sethi said that this is cowardice and an act of frustration. Ahmad injured his leg in the incident while Khan escaped unhurt.

He said people of Jammu and Kashmir have suffered a lot on account of such acts and now they are craving for peace. "We express sympathy for injured police personnel, who was guarding him", Sat said.

A section of Hurriyat leadership has also raked up the "communal agenda" of BJP, accusing the party of attempting to alter the Muslim demography of the Valley.

He said the incident stands testimony to the fact that the separatists and the militants along with their supporters are anxious of the developments in the Kashmir region. The Army immediately cordoned off the area and launched an operation to flush out the terrorists.

Incriminating material including arms and ammunition was seized from the 2 terrorists.
