A senior police officer told GNS that the BJP leader Mohammad Anwar Khan along with his two PSOs was sacked upon by the militants at Balhama near Arash Medical College and tried to snatch service rifles from them.
A gunfight is raging between a group of militants and security forces in Khanmoh area outside the highway town of Pampore in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district since Thursday afternoon.

In the initial exchange of fire one CRPF trooper identified as Pradeep Kumar of 110 bn got injured and shifted to army's 92 base hospital for treatment.
Work was also affected in government offices and banks besides educational institutions as second militant killed in the encounter was identified as Shabir Dar, a resident of of Awantipora. The spokesman said as per police records, Bhat and Dar had joined militancy a year ago in the month of March and August respectively. "Along (with) the bodies, incriminating materials which include weapon and ammunition have been recovered as well", a police press statement said. Police have registered a case under relevant sections and investigation is in progress, the spokesman added.
