Snow, freezing rain expected to wreak havoc on the roads Sunday

Roughly 2-5 centimeters (0.8-2.0 inches) accumulation is expected before the weather switches over to freezing rain in the afternoon.

"The freezing rain will change to rain tonight as temperatures rise above the freezing mark".

Another round of snow will develop overnight as well.

Although the freezing rain will likely persist for several hours today, ice build-up is expected to be limited to just a few millimetres. The freezing rain is expected to change to flurries early this afternoon over southwestern Ontario to the Golden Horseshoe later Sunday afternoon or early evening.

Roads, sidewalks, bridges and parking lots may become slippery.

Conditions are expected to improve by Sunday evening and into the start of the work week on Monday. Those surfaces will extremely slippery under these conditions and in terms of snow, it could be between 2 and 4 centimetres by the end of the afternoon.
