To add an explosive amount of fuel to that fire, Nike's official website began to promote Barcelona shirts adorned with the "Magician's" name in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Coutinho has always been linked with a move to Barcelona, and was the subject of three failed bids from the Catalan side in the summer.

Barcelona will have to table a huge bid far in excess of the £118 million offer rejected in the summer for Liverpool to even consider allowing Philippe Coutinho to leave in the transfer window.

It has been reported that Coutinho has been very interested in joining Barcelona and although the Blaugrana signed Ousmane Dembele in a 180-million-euros deal, they are said to be keen on the Brazilian to replace the aging Andres Iniesta.

Coutinho - who handed in a transfer request at the time - played 89 minutes in Liverpool's 2-1 victory over Leicester City in the Premier League on Saturday.

An advert for Barca's latest strip read: 'Philippe Coutinho is ready to light up Camp Nou.

Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona was accidentally confirmed on their website.

After scoring 12 goals and assisting another nine as part of Liverpool's "Fab Four" in the first-half of the season, Barcelona are likely to come in for Coutinho again.

It's going to be a very, very interesting January transfer window...
