YouTube Reels explained: How the Snapchat Stories-like tool works

With Reels, creators can communicate with fans by shooting short impromptu videos that won't automatically expire. The online report also points out that each of the videos on Reels will have a playtime of up to 30 seconds - with features such as filters, music, and text among others.

Taking inspiration from the most trending feature on social media, YouTube is going to launch its own version of Stories. For instance, YouTube creators can choose to make multiple Reels that do not disappear after a given period, unlike Stories on Facebook that expire after 24 hours.

Talking about the YouTube Reels, it is a Stories like feature which allows users to post small videos clips.

But the move underscores YouTube's continued attempt to become more social and community-oriented.

YouTube's team is also adding features such as linking to YouTube videos and YouTube-y stickers to enhance the community-centric experience on the video streaming site. Called Reels, the format is now available in beta in the Community tab, which is open to popular creators.

This feature is initially launching in beta before expanding to more creators. Talking an example, a YouTuber can create a post video Reels to a folder from an all-day event. It will permanently live in a tab separate from a creator's main list of videos.Furthermore, users can have several Reels with no expiry date. Reels is now in beta mode and the final product is expected to launch soon, but after proper experimentation.

As part of the update, YouTube announced that Community will also now expand to creators with more than 10,000 subscribers.

According to TechCrunch, Reels will be given their own tab in the YouTube mobile app. According to YouTube people wants to share stuff on the YouTube without the hassle of following the traditional ways of making a YouTube video. Fan can also now get notification of new posts.
