Southern Miss: The Golden Eagles came into the game averaging the fourth-fewest turnovers in Division I (8.8 per game) but committed a season-high 19 against FSU.

However, few teams in college basketball have a more hard upcoming set of games, as the Seminoles will face the No. 4 Duke Blue Devils on the road, followed by the No. 5 North Carolina Tar Heels at home, and then the No. 6 Miami Hurricanes on the road.

With that win in a game that the Seminoles won't be bragging about having to play based on this season to forget, FSU was able to extend the modern record for consecutive bowl games - but one website is saying "not so fast" and arguing that something going on with a team the Noles beat this season means FSU football ISN'T bowl eligible after all.

Reddit College Football found that over the most recent two-year span, Delaware State only used 87 percent of the available scholarship grants-in-aid awarded to FCS teams, but in order for an FCS opponent to count toward an FBS team's bowl eligibility, the FCS team needs to use 90 percent of its scholarship grants-in-aid over a rolling two-year stretch.

Florida State and the Atlantic Coast Conference officials did not respond to requests for comment at the time of this publication. It extended the program's nation-leading bowl game streak to 36 years.

Three schools that were eligible to be selected to play in a bowl game will be watching from home while FSU plays in the Independence Bowl.

Dawsey, who has been with the Seminoles for 11 years and also played at FSU, was informed of the decision Thursday.

"I just wanted to make sure I get the right guys", Taggart said.
