The Miami Dolphins reportedly traded running back Jay Ajayi to the Philadelphia Eagles on Tuesday for a fourth-round draft pick, according to Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald.

The swap came just hours before Tuesday's 4 p.m. ET trade deadline.

"We gotta stop trying to hit the home runs all the time", said Gase. Although his 2017 season was not going great - 465 yards on 138 carries - he still steps onto this Eagles roster and is without question their most talented running back. Ajayi set a Miami franchise record with three 200-yard rushing performances, ranked fourth in the league with 1,272 yards rushing, and was named to his first Pro Bowl in 2016.

Ajayi, 24, was Miami's starting running back and was originally drafted by the Dolphins in the fifth round in 2015.

The addition of Ajayi could be huge as they kick off the second half of the season at 7-1. Even with the loss of Jason Peters, the Eagles offensive line still holds their own, giving holes big enough for LeGarrette Blount. Wentz himself is a running threat, and there are also talented and underrated backs in Wendell Smallwood and Corey Clement. Ajayi is also on the books for the 2018 season, meaning the Eagles don't have to worry about losing him this offseason.
