Arizona Cardinals to start Blaine Gabbert at QB

According to various sources, Arizona Cardinals coach Bruce Arians has named Gabbert the starter of Week 12's upcoming matchup.

Thanks to parity in the National Football League, the Arizona Cardinals and Houston Texans still have hope when they face each other on Sunday (10 a.m. PT/1 p.m. ET, FOX, DirecTV).

Just minutes after Andre Johnson was inducted into the Texans Ring of Honor at halftime against the Arizona Cardinals, DeAndre Hopkins kicked off the third quarter with back-to-back big plays.

He now serves as the Cardinals quarterback coach and was named to the job earlier this year. Hopkins has four receptions for 76 yards and one touchdown.

"It's very simple: I cost our team the game", Arians said after Sunday's game.

The Cardinals want Drew Stanton (knee) to be "totally healthy" before making a return, but he was well enough to be Gabbert's backup in Week 11, so it's not clear what that means. In his start last week against the Houston Texans, Gabbert was 22-of-34 for three touchdowns and two fourth quarter interceptions. You deserve to lose, especially when you make the decision I made and the play I called. Peterson finished with 26 yards on 14 carries.

Gabbert, 28, was drafted in the first-round of the 2011 NFL Draft by then general manager Gene Smith. The 27-year-old has played in eight games this season, catching 19 passes for 271 yards and two touchdowns in what has been a disappointing year for him overall.

"I don't know how many yards we ran for, but obviously we have to be balanced", Fitzgerald said. He took to Twitter and criticized the Cardinals' game plan.

"He blocked the wrong damn guy", Arians said.

The defense did come up with the turnovers but had trouble pressuring struggling Texans quarterback Tom Savage.
