The ZTE Axon M is a foldable smartphone with two displays and flagship specifications from previous year. While the handset doesn't feature the best hardware to date, the Shenzhen-based original equipment manufacturer isn't highlighting its basic internal specs as some of its selling points.

"The ZTE Axon M lets customers multitask and enjoy entertainment in new and exciting ways".

The company ZTE introduced the original folding smartphone Axon M, equipped with two screens.

ZTE Axon M featuring dual 5.2-inch IPS LCD 1080p display, powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 SoC officially announced. This could be useful when the smartphone is in "tent" mode, with viewers on either side of the device being able to watch a movie or play a game, for example.

As for what you can do with two screens, ZTE offers a few neat tricks, all focusing on either multitasking or sharing whatever it is you're watching with another person. Its dual screens are attached by a hinge sort of thing with one display attached to the body while the other can be folded to the back or extended outwards. There was a huge improvement done to the cameras and a big number of dual-lens camera smartphones have come in, but finally, one brand is working to bring two screens on one device.

So essentially when the phone is opened fully, the displays end up being side by side and the phone turns into a tablet, while when it's closed, it turns into a device with two displays at the back and the front. In double screen mode, the tablet version of apps are displayed if supported. Is this what you thought of when you imagined what a "foldable phone" would look like?

ZTE has a new Axon phone to show off, and while it's not a follow up to last year's Axon flagship, it is pretty much one of the coolest devices we've encountered so far in 2017.

For now, the ZTE Axon M will be in partnership with AT&T in the United States and Docomo in Japan. Now, for the meh news: ZTE Axon M is 12.1mm thick and weighs 230 grams. It comes with 64GB onboard storage, expandable up to 2TB via a microSD card. There is only a single 20 megapixel camera on the smartphone which is used as the main as well as the selfie camera. The hinge only goes 180 degrees, so you can't "close" the smartphone such that both screens are protected. The device will also be available in Japan, China, and Europe in 2018.
