Speaking at a summit in China, the Russian President said the U.S. order was made in "such a clearly boorish manner" which "does not reflect well on our American partners". "All of this could lead to a global planetary catastrophe and a great number of victims", he told reporters.

On Tuesday, making his first public reaction to the issue, Putin called the confiscation "unprecedented" and "a violation of Russia's property rights".

Regarding Putin's bride comment, if Russian Federation truly did influence the USA election - and it's looking increasingly likely this is the case - then it's true Trump is not his bride - he's his....um...another word...we can't print here.

But Putin, speaking in China on Tuesday, cautioned against "military hysteria" and said that the only way to resolve the crisis was through diplomacy. On the other hand, China which is North Korea's patron and closest political and economic partner is yet to take a clear stand on the issue. "Clearly bloviating and sanctions are failing". "We will not do this immediately but will see how things develop".

When announcing the decision to close the USA sites, a State Department spokesman noted "Russia will still maintain more diplomatic and consular annexes in the United States than we have in Russian Federation".

He has also said talking to the country was "not the answer".

Putin also condemned North Korea's most recent nuclear tests, but said that he doubted sanctions would deter the secretive country's leaders.

While US Defense Secretary James Mattis warned of a "massive military response," US President Trump suggested a massive clampdown on trade with countries that do business with North Korea.

Failing that, Putin said he could reduce USA diplomatic staff in Russian Federation by 155 more positions, in addition to the 755 already eliminated.

Those missiles, successfully tested twice in July, have the ability to reach the United States mainland, North Korea says.

"He [Trump] is not my bride and I'm not his groom".

North Korea on Sunday claimed to have tested a hydrogen bomb that can be mounted to an intercontinental ballistic missile.

In talks with Mr Putin on Monday, Mr Moon brought up the idea of getting the United Nations Security Council to block North Korea's foreign currency income, including banning the export of labour, and cutting off oil supplies.

Putin said the Foreign Ministry will take legal action.
