NES Classic Edition to return to stores in 2018

Nintendo has launched the very successful Switch this year.

Here's a bit of a good news for video game fanatics: The discontinued Nintendo mini-console is coming back. Twenty-one games will be available for the SNES edition, including Super Mario World, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past and Super Metroid.

NES Classic Mini consoles regularly sell for double their $99.95 RRP on eBay or even higher. The package also included one original controller with a short cable and not much more. Nintendo spokesperson told Eurogamer recently that they are "happy to confirm that we'll continue to ship stock of the Nintendo Classic Mini: Super Nintendo Entertainment System to Europe in 2018".

After scalpers have sold countless NES Classic Edition consoles for obscene prices, Nintendo pulls a 180 and decides to sell its emulation machine again next year.

Specifics about the re-release aren't yet known, but overseas Nintendo said it is planning new shipments for the northern hemisphere summer.

In addition to this the Japanese firm has said that it will ship additional NES Classic Edition consoles in 2018. "More information will be shared in the future".

So great is the demand for the retro console that Nintendo has now announced that it will put more Classic Edition consoles on shelves come its release on 29th September.
