Kizer completed 6-of-11 for 81 yards, but had an interception (on a throw off Duke Johnson's hand) and a fumble lost on a sack. Kevin Hogan, a second-year player from Stanford, entered and put orchestrated a scoring drive.

Terrance West added one rushing touchdown, but Javorius Allen led the rushing attack with 14 attempts good for 66 yards. Even though it was a loss, having a rookie quarterback in DeShone Kizer leading the way and showing poise in a tough game was a sight for sore eyes. Kizer went 12/25 for 163 yards and three interceptions.

On his second play Hogan threw a 49-yard completion to Seth DeValve.
