The duo met for the first time yesterday at the Staples Center in Las Vegas with both involved in heated exchanges.

Undefeated boxer Andre Ward took issue with Conor McGregor referring to Floyd Mayweather as "boy" when asked about it Wednesday.

He also hit out at "Money" and the lack of it amid tax fraud allegations with the IRS. McGregor, who seemed out of his element in Los Angeles kicked the door in as he sent a tirade aimed directly at Mayweather and Showtime.

"You're 40 f***ing years of age". McGregor also said "Money" was dressed like a breakdancer and couldn't read. "I'm working, it's a job for me, but I always knew I was going to get to this level and I belong at the top".

One must recall that Mayweather's illiteracy has been the subject of much debate and rumour on social media and elsewhere since a long time. "I wanna watch you continue to build the UFC because it's all about combat sports. No matter what I said about you in the past, as a man I look in your face and apologize and tell you I'm sorry, but you've done a hell of a job with this company". Granted, fighters are professionals and a pre-fight skirmish would put the entire fight itself at risk, but men like McGregor and Diaz have rarely played by any set of rules they've been faced with.

McGregor announced he suspects Showtime, which has broadcast Floyd Mayweather Jr.'s last six pay-per-view boxing matches and is handling their coming August 26 novelty match from T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, intentionally silenced the Irish UFC champion after he urged Mayweather to "show the taxman" a $100-million check that Mayweather produced on stage Tuesday.

UFC president Dana White and the 28-year-old McGregor were the first to enter the stage.

"He has to realize, I've been here before", Mayweather said. It took me 13 seconds.

Admitting that he's not as fast as he used to be, and that training to get in shape for fights has become grueling for him, Mayweather further stated that this will be his last fight.

And while the combo of Mayweather and McGregor are younger, more agile and quantifiably more handsome than Jagger and Richards, the guarantee of entertainment complete with the potential for a backstage boxing match is always on the table. He took the microphone and immediately invited those in attendance to scream "F-- THE MAYWEATHERS" at his count of three, a request the crowd was happy to help him with. Like everyone else watching the spectacle, Mayweather just sat back and enjoyed the show.

"To use a bit of an extreme analogy, I happen to be a pretty good golfer".
