Celtics eliminated from Eastern finals by Cavaliers 135-102

John McGraw's Giants won the rematch the following year, 4-0, with one tie before Ruth gave the Yankees their first title the following year to cap the first season at Yankee Stadium.

So it's Cavaliers-Warriors, exactly as expected.

Let the hype, and the waiting, begin: Game 1 isn't until June 1.

James said at a summer basketball camp past year that he found motivation in "this ghost I'm chasing, the ghost played in Chicago".

The Cavs went on to defeat the Warriors in seven games, and some believe LeBron trolled Golden State by wearing an Ultimate Warrior shirt to the team's victory parade. The two split their two-game regular season series, but the rivalry dates back to 2015.

Act III in this trilogy is overloaded with story lines, with the biggest being whether James and Co. have enough firepower to go toe-to-toe with the Warriors, who added superstar Kevin Durant to a team that won 73 games a year ago before its Finals flameout. To get there, the Cleveland Cavaliers went 12-1 on their journey through the Eastern Conference playoffs. In his 14 National Basketball Association season, he has finished his season playing for a chance to take home the Larry O'Brien Trophy more often than he hasn't.

Curry is right in that nobody should question the work the Warriors and Cavaliers put in to get to this point, and that the other teams did not just roll over for them. Everyone wants to say, "Ah, man, this is boring" and this that and the other, but you usually don't appreciate something until you don't have it anymore. "We need to understand the privilege that we have and the opportunity that we have to play in the Finals again, to have the opportunity to win a championship".

Cleveland coach Tyronn Lue was quoted earlier this week saying he thought Boston's offense was "harder to defend" than Golden State's.

There's notably also another superstar on Golden State's already-loaded roster.

The rubber match between the Cavaliers and Warriors marks the first time in National Basketball Association history that the same two teams have matched up against each other in The Finals in three consecutive seasons.

Much more of that sort of that will likely follow over the next week, filling time before Golden State plays host to Game 1.

"The best team in our league the last three years", James said of the Warriors.

What does matter is the chance to cement his own legacy, one that inspires young players to look beyond scoring as they develop their games.

"I don't have to score to make an impact on a game and that was my mindset when I started playing, if I'm not scoring how can I still make an impact on the game?" They're going to challenge us a lot, offensively, defensively, mentally, physically.

An unprecedented Finals trilogy was finally set, and still, James had no interest or energy to engage the topic.

The probability tracking site fivethirtyeight.com, which computes probable outcomes for elections and major sports leagues, gives the Warriors a 90 percent chance to win the series.

"I can't lie. I went when I was 23 years old and it felt like the Western Conference Finals was nearly like the championship", he said.

While James is going for his fourth ring, Warriors forward Kevin Durant will be trying to win his first.

Halfway through his four-year, $84.1 million contract, it's apparent that Aldridge has lost his offensive rhythm with the San Antonio Spurs.

"We're definitely disappointed. I feel like if we weren't, there would be a problem", he said. "I can't lie", Durant said, when comparing the 2012 Finals trip to this one. "And so when you look at it, I think A, it would have been really interesting to see if another team, except Portland, who they would have taken if they needed a center".
